Deloitte Israel is seeking a talented and passionate Senior FinOps Engineer to join our innovative Technology & Cloud team. What you will do:
- As a Senior Cloud FinOps Engineer you will be part of Deloitte Israel’s Technology practice, working with Israeli and global clients to help them understand, govern and optimize their cloud spend across AWS, GCP and Azure.
- You will bridge the gap between finance, engineering and operations to ensure our clients’ cloud investments deliver maximum business value.
- You will lead FinOps engagements end-to-end: from assessing cloud FinOps maturity, designing operating models and governance, through to hands-on implementation of tagging, chargeback/showback, anomaly detection, rate & usage optimization and unit economics.
- You will work closely with top-tier cloud engineers and brilliant financial minds, taking part in both architecture discussions and business analysis of operational cloud costs.
- Lead cloud cost analysis & reporting o Own the analysis of multi-cloud spend (AWS, Azure, GCP) across clients.
- Design and maintain dashboards, KPIs and unit-economics views for technology and finance stakeholders.
- Establish regular reporting and executive summaries on cost, drivers, and trends (budget vs. actuals, variance analysis).
- Drive optimization & rate/usage efficiency
- Identify and prioritize optimization opportunities across compute, storage, data transfer, databases and managed services.
- Design and implement strategies around Savings Plans/Reserved Instances/committed use discounts and enterprise cloud agreements.
- Design governance, tagging and cost allocation models o Define and implement tagging standards and shared-cost models aligned to business structures.
- Implement showback/chargeback processes that drive cost ownership across business units.
- Help clients establish FinOps guardrails, policies and operating cadences (e.g., monthly cost reviews, anomaly response playbooks).
- Enable planning, forecasting and decision-making o Partner with FP&A and finance teams on budgeting, forecasting and scenario modelling for cloud spend.
- Support business case development for migrations, new workloads and GenAI/data platform initiatives.
- Translate cost and usage insights into clear recommendations and business outcomes.
- Lead workshops and stakeholder sessions with engineering, finance, procurement and leadership.
- Contribute to proposals, POVs and Deloitte FinOps accelerators (e.g., playbooks, templates, CloudBilling/FinOps tooling).
Requirements
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in cloud engineering / DevOps / cloud architecture, including at least 2 years focused on cloud cost management / FinOps.
- Proven experience working with at least one major cloud provider (AWS strongly preferred; Azure and/or GCP an advantage).
- Practical experience implementing cloud cost optimization (rightsizing, scheduling, commitment programs, storage/data transfer optimization, container/serverless cost controls).
- Prior consulting, customer-facing or multi-stakeholder experience – leading projects or workstreams.
- FinOps & tooling o Strong understanding of FinOps principles and the FinOps Framework (inform–optimize–operate) and how they apply in large organizations.
- Hands-on experience with cloud billing and cost-management tools such as AWS Cost Explorer, Azure Cost Management, GCP Billing/BigQuery exports and/or third-party tools (e.g., Cloudability, PointFive, Umbrella/Anodot).
- Strong data and analytics skills; proficiency with Excel/Google Sheets and at least one BI/visualization tool (Power BI, Tableau, Looker, QuickSight or similar).
- Technical skills o Solid understanding of modern cloud architectures: microservices, containers (Kubernetes, Docker), serverless, data platforms and networking fundamentals.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/CloudFormation/ARM) and automation/scripting (Python, Bash, PowerShell or similar) - an advantage.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Finance, Economics or a related field.
- Cloud certifications (AWS/Azure/GCP) - strong advantage. o FinOps Certified Practitioner / FinOps Certified Professional - advantage.
- Excellent communication skills – able to present complex cost and technical topics in a clear, business-oriented way.
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills, critical thinking and structured problem-solving.
- Ability to work independently and as part of cross-functional teams, manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment..
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working within large, complex organizations.
- Familiarity with Data, DevOps, or GenAI domains.
- Relevant FinOps or Cloud certifications (FinOps Certified Practitioner, AWS/Azure/GCP certifications).
